COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Pascal Leclaire ranks eighth overall among all Western Conference vote-getters and second among goaltenders, while left wing Rick Nash ranks 11th among forwards in the XM/NHL All-Star Fan Balloting, presented by 2K Sports, the NHL announced today.
Leclaire, who registered his NHL-leading seventh shutout vs. Atlanta on Wednesday, has received 165,499 and trails Vancouver's Roberto Luongo who has received 228,583 votes. Nash ranks 11th among forwards with 107,056 votes. The top 10 vote-getters in the Western Conference are: defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom, Detroit (420,436); forward Henrik Zetterberg, Detroit (291,952); defenseman Dion Phaneuf, Calgary (275,395); forward Pavel Datsyuk (262,619); Luongo; forward Jarome Iginla, Calgary (213,258); defenseman Chris Pronger, Anaheim (181,529); Leclaire; defenseman Rob Blake Los Angeles (155,391) and forward Joe Sakic, Colorado (150,103).
Fans around the world can go online at NHL.com to "Vote Now, Vote Often" for the Eastern and Western Conference All-Star starters for the 2008 NHL All-Star Game. U.S. fans also can cast votes through Verizon Wireless Mobile Web 2.0-enabled phones. The voting began on November 12 and concludes next Wednesday, January 2.
The voting will determine the starting lineups for the 2008 NHL All-Star Game, which will be played on Sunday, January 27 in Atlanta (6 p.m. ET, VERSUS, CBC, RDS, NASN, NHL Radio). Fans can vote for six Eastern Conference All-Stars and six Western Conference All-Stars: three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender for each team. If a player is not listed on the ballot, a space is provided for write-in votes. The three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender from each Conference receiving the most votes will comprise the starting lineups. Each of the 30 NHL Clubs has at least two representatives on the ballot.
The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Nashville Predators. Game time is set for 8 p.m. ET.
