COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have named their team captains for the 2011-12 season, Head Coach Scott Arniel announced October 7.
Left wing Rick Nash will continue to serve as team captain and left wing R.J. Umberger will continue to serve as alternate captain. Also serving as alternate captains on a rotating basis are: center Antoine Vermette, center Jeff Carter and defenseman James Wisniewski.
The Blue Jackets open the 2011-12 season tonight when the club hosts the Nashville Predators. Game time from Nationwide Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:50 p.m. for the pre-game show.
