COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets will host the club's annual National Hockey League Entry Draft Party on Friday, June 20 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Champps Americana located at Easton Town Center. As a result of the NHL Draft Drawing, the Blue Jackets currently have the sixth and 19th overall picks in the first round of the Draft, which will be held at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Ontario.
Fans are invited to watch live television coverage of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft on VERSUS while Sports Radio 1460 The Fan, the AM radio home of the Columbus Blue Jackets, broadcasts live from Champps from 7-9 p.m. Blue Jackets Radio Network host Mark Wyant will anchor the broadcast while the Blue Jackets Radio Network team of play-by-play voice George Matthews and color analyst Bill Davidge provide analysis from Champps, along with FSN Ohio announcer Jeff Rimer, who will provide up-to-the-minute analysis of each selection live from Ottawa.
In addition to live draft coverage, activities throughout the evening will include appearances by Blue Jackets' 2007 first round pick Jakub Voracek (7th overall) and 2006 draft picks Derick Brassard (6th overall), Tom Sestito (85th overall) and Derek Dorsett (189th overall), as well as Stinger and members of the Pepsi Power Patrol. Trivia games and a silent auction to benefit the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation will also take place. Champps will feature a full menu of food and beverage items, including Labatt Blue beer 22-ounce drafts for $3 and pints for $2. Come early for happy hour and enjoy the value "Bites" menu from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and after 10 p.m. The event is open to hockey fans of all ages.
