COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets are asking fans to join them in supporting The Salvation Army in Central Ohio's efforts to help local families in need this holiday season by donating a coat or toy during collections at several upcoming home games, starting Friday, Nov. 26 when the Jackets host the Detroit Red Wings.
The Blue Jackets and WBNS 10TV are partnering again in support of the 4th annual "Jackets for Jackets" coat drive to help keep central Ohio families warm this winter. Fans are encouraged to help by bringing new or gently used jackets of all sizes to six upcoming Blue Jackets games at Nationwide Arena: Friday, Nov. 26 (vs. Detroit), Wednesday, Dec. 1 (vs. Nashville), Saturday, Dec. 4 (vs. Pittsburgh), Monday, Dec. 6 (vs. Dallas), Saturday, Dec. 11 (vs. NY Rangers) and Saturday, Dec. 18 (vs. Dallas). All of the jackets collected will be donated to the Salvation Army and then redistributed to local families in need.
The Blue Jackets players' wives and girlfriends, known as the Lady Jackets, will be collecting coats alongside 10TV news anchors/reporters on the designated game nights. All donors will receive vouchers for discounts on Blue Jackets tickets and skating passes at all Chiller Ice Rinks. For fans that are unable to make a game-night donation at Nationwide Arena, jackets will also be accepted at the Ice Haus, the Chiller Ice Rinks, and at the FOX Sports Ohio Blue Line store at The Mall at Tuttle Crossing.
Also during the four home games from Friday, Nov. 26 through Monday, Dec. 6, the Lady Jackets will be hosting an additional collection of new and unwrapped toys which will be donated to the Salvation Army's Christmas Cheer program, a large-scale food and toy distribution program where families receive a Christmas Dinner food box and toy for every child under the age of 13. Toy donors will receive either a discounted skating voucher for the Chillers or a 15% off coupon for purchases made that evening at The FOX Sports Ohio Blue Line at Nationwide Arena.
The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they host the Nashville Predators at Nationwide Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m. ET. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio HD begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 6:30 p.m. The game will also be broadcast live on the Wheeling Island Hotel & Casino Blue Jackets Radio Network, including 97.1 The Fan and online at BlueJackets.com.
