Columbus Blue Jackets Goaltender Pascal Leclaire to Undergo Surgery on Injured Ankle and Will Be Sidelined 10 to 12 Weeks

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Pascal Leclaire will undergo surgery on his injured ankle Friday and is expected to be sidelined 10 to 12 weeks, club General Manager Scott Howson announced January 20.

Leclaire, 26, has appeared in 12 games this season and posted a 4-6-1 record with a 3.83 goals-against average and .867 save percentage. He originally suffered the injury in a preseason game vs. the Minnesota Wild on October 3. He missed eight games earlier this season due to the injury and last played in a game on December 18 at Dallas.

Columbus' first pick, eighth overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft, Leclaire has gone 45-55-12 with a 2.82 goals-against average, .907 save percentage and 10 shutouts in 125 career games with the club. In 2007-08, he went 24-17-6 with a 2.25 goals-against average, .919 save percentage and nine shutouts in 54 games.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Edmonton Oilers in a key Western Conference matchup. Game time from Rexall Place is set for 9 p.m. ET.
