COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus Blue Jackets were defeated 6-4 by the St. Louis Blues at the Prospect Tournament at the Center Ice Arena in Traverse City, Michigan on Friday.

Forward Jakub Voracek, Columbus' first pick, seventh overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, scored two third period goals including one on the power play. The Blue Jackets also got two-points from center Derrick Brassard (0-2-2) first selection, sixth overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, and forward Jared Gomes (1-1-2).

The Blues scored the first five goals of the game, before Tom Sestito, third pick, 85th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft netted the first Columbus score of the tournament.

"We got off to a slow start and took some penalties early, which put us behind the eight ball," said Director of Player Personnel, Don Boyd. "Once we got our legs underneath us we started to play the way expect to play the rest of this tournament."

Other Columbus players that recorded points were forward Jared Boll, forward Adam Pineault and defenseman Kyle Wharton, who each had one assist. The Blue Jackets also out shot the Blues 31-24 for the contest, including 15-4 in the final period. Boll led all players with six shots on goal.

This year will mark the seventh straight in which Columbus has participated in the Annual NHL Prospect Tournament and the Blue Jackets have won the tournament championship the past two years.
