COLUMBUS, OHIO - Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Ryan Murray suffered a broken hand in last Saturday's game at Buffalo and is expected to miss four to six weeks, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The injury occurred when Murray blocked a shot in the first period against the Sabres. He underwent surgery this morning at OhioHealth's Grant Medical Center performed by Dr. Gary Millard.

Murray, 23, has tallied two goals and nine assists for 11 points with 24 penalty minutes and a +3 plus/minus rating in 60 games this season. The club's first pick, second overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft, he has registered 11-49-60 and 82 penalty minutes in 220 career NHL games. In 2015-16, he collected a career-high 4-21-25, 40 penalty minutes and was one of three Blue Jackets to appear in all 82 games (Boone Jenner, Gregory Campbell).

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers. Game time from Wells Fargo Center is 7 p.m. ET. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. The game will also be broadcast live on the Eldorado Scioto Downs Blue Jackets Radio Network, 97.1 The Fan FM, and online at BlueJackets.com.
