Columbus Blue Jackets Clinch First Stanley Cup Playoffs Berth with 4-3 Shootout Victory at Chicago Tonight

COLUMBUS, OHIO – With a 4-3 shootout win over the Chicago Blackhawks tonight at United Center, the Columbus Blue Jackets secured the first berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the franchise's nine-year history.

The Blue Jackets, who played their inaugural NHL season in 2000-01, are currently in sixth place in the Western Conference with a record of 41-29-10 (92 pts.). The club trails fifth place Vancouver (43-27-10, 96 pts.) by four points, while holding a four-point lead on seventh place Anaheim (41-33-6, 88 pts.) and eighth place St. Louis (39-31-10, 88 pts.).

Columbus concludes its season at St. Louis on Friday and at home against Minnesota on Saturday, while Vancouver hosts Los Angeles on Thursday and visits Colorado on Saturday. Anaheim closes its season with games vs. Dallas on Friday and at Phoenix on Saturday, while St. Louis visits Colorado on Sunday after Friday night’s game with the Blue Jackets. The NHL regular season concludes this Sunday, April 12, with the Stanley Cup Playoffs schedule to be announced that evening. The playoffs begin with the conference quarterfinals on Wednesday, April 15.

Tickets for all Blue Jackets first round home playoff games at Nationwide Arena will go on sale Saturday, April 11 at 9 a.m. at the Nationwide Arena Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster Ticket Centers, the FOX Sports Ohio Blue Line at The Mall at Tuttle Crossing, online at BlueJackets.com and Ticketmaster.com, or by phone at (800) 745-3000.

The Blue Jackets return to action Friday when they visit the St. Louis Blues. Game time from Scottrade Center is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio will begin with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 8 p.m. The game also will be broadcast live on the Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM/Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM/CD101 beginning at 8 p.m.
