Columbus Blue Jackets Celebrate Holiday Season with Toy Drive and Host of Foundation Fundraisers

by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS, OHIO – In celebration of the spirit of the season, the Columbus Blue Jackets invite fans to join them in supporting the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program by donating a new and unwrapped toy during collections at home games on Thursday, December 8 and Saturday, December 10. The Blue Jackets players’ wives and girlfriends, known as the Lady Jackets, will be collecting the toys alongside volunteers from Central Ohio Lima Company 3rd Battalion 25th Marines on the designated game nights.

Also during select December home games, the Blue Jackets Foundation presents a trio of holiday-themed fundraisers. First, fans may visit the Foundation Kiosk to purchase a mystery Blue Jackets ornament featuring a random player autograph. The $20 mystery ornaments are available during the five home games from December 8-17.

In addition, Santa Stinger makes his annual appearance during games on Saturday, Dec. 10 and Saturday, Dec. 17. Fans wishing to take a posed photo with Santa Stinger can visit him at a photo station on the main concourse during designated pre-game and intermissions. The 4 x 6 color photos are available for $10.

Once again, the Lady Jackets present the Player Favorite Basket Silent Auction and Raffle, a signature event during which the players’ wives and girlfriends put together customized gift baskets filled with a variety of items that reflect the personality and off-ice interests of each individual Blue Jacket. The baskets will be available for bidding or raffle during the four home games December 10-17. Proceeds will benefit CHOICES, central Ohio’s leading organization addressing domestic violence.

Since its inception in 2000, the Foundation has awarded $3.5 million in community grants to non-profit organizations that serve the Foundation’s main pillars of giving: the fight against pediatric cancer; education; children’s health and safety; and the development of youth and amateur hockey. The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio HD begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 9:30 p.m. The game will also be broadcast live on the Wheeling Island Hotel & Casino Blue Jackets Radio Network, including WWCD 102.5FM and online at BlueJackets.com.
