The Columbus Blue Jackets and Boich Companies announced today a new multi-year partnership that aligns the Columbus-based coal marketing company with the National Hockey League club. The community-focused partnership utilizes team assets to support the Blue Jackets Foundation’s signature cause of fighting pediatric cancer.
The partnership encompasses both fundraising and support programs for local pediatric cancer patients and their families. To kick off the fundraising, Boich will make a donation for every assist tallied by Blue Jackets players during the 2014-15 season. An integrated campaign, which will be promoted during games and across the club’s digital platforms, invites fans to support the program with personal donations or pledges.
In addition to the fundraising component, “Boich for Pediatric Cancer Family Nights” will give families affected by cancer special Blue Jackets game experiences. Boich is also providing newly created “Blue Jackets Courage Kits.” These co-branded bags, which will contain a Stinger doll and a Blue Jackets knit cap, will be given to pediatric cancer patients at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and gifted by players or team personnel during visits.
“Boich Companies has been a longtime supporter of the Blue Jackets Foundation and we’re excited to parlay that relationship into a program that furthers their community goals and builds awareness among our fans,” said A.J. Poole, Blue Jackets Vice President of Corporate Development.
“We are proud to partner with the Blue Jackets in the fight against pediatric cancer,” said Boich Companies President of External Relations, Matt Evans. “We want to do all we can to help these children and their families,” Evans said.
To round out the partnership, Boich will be a sponsor of Black Tie Blue Jackets, the Blue Jackets Foundation’s signature fundraising event that pairs Blue Jackets players with pediatric cancer heroes in a style show.
Headquartered in downtown Columbus, Boich Companies is a robust coal marketing operation. Boich has owned and currently owns and operates coal production facilities in the United States. Boich Companies is also a private investor in many different projects throughout the United States and abroad, including ownerships in real estate, telecom, retail and financial service businesses.
