Columbus Blue Jackets Assign LW Tomas Kubalik to American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned left wing Tomas Kubalik to the Springfield Falcons, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, club Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson announced January 24.

Kubalik (pronounced koo-BAHL-ihk), 21, has collected one goal and one assist for two points with six penalty minutes in eight games with the Blue Jackets this season. He scored his first career NHL goal vs. Phoenix on January 13 and has 1-3-4 and six penalty minutes in 12 career NHL games.

The Blue Jackets' sixth pick, 135th overall in the 2008 Entry Draft, he has tallied 7-4-11 and 20 penalty minutes in 24 games with the Falcons this season. He collected 24-29-53 and 43 penalty minutes in 76 games for Springfield a year ago in his first professional season and has notched 31-33-64 and 63 penalty minutes in 100 career AHL games.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when the club visits the Tampa Bay Lightning. Game time from the St. Pete Times Forum is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
