Columbus Blue Jackets assign Hannikainen to Cleveland Monsters

COLUMBUS, OHIO ---The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned left wing Markus Hannikainen to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters, club general Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced tonight.

Hannikainen, 24, has notched two goals and two assists for four points with six penalty minutes in 27 games with the Blue Jackets in 2017-18 and has 3-3-6 and 12 penalty minutes in 41 career NHL games. He also has collected 0-1-1 in four games with Cleveland this season and has registered 26-32-58, 42 penalty minutes and a +12 plus/minus rating in 111 career AHL games with Lake Erie/Cleveland over the past three campaigns. The Helsinki, Finland native was signed as a free agent by the Blue Jackets in April 2015.
