COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned goaltender Dan LaCosta to the Syracuse Crunch, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson announced October 19.
LaCosta, 22, stopped 15-of-17 shots in 35 minutes of action Saturday night at Nashville in relief of Fredrik Norrena. He has a 4-0-0 record with a 2.09 goals-against average and .933 save percentage in four games with the Crunch this season. He is 18-9-4 with a 2.42 goals-against average, .917 save percentage and four shutouts in 38 career AHL games. Last year, he stopped five-of-five shots in 13 minutes of action in his NHL debut with the Jackets at Nashville on Mar. 25, 2008. He was Columbus' fourth pick, 93rd overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Tuesday, when they host the Vancouver Canucks. Game time from Nationwide Arena is set for 7 p.m. Live coverage on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM, Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101 begins at 6:30 p.m.
