Columbus Blue Jackets Assign Goaltender Dan LaCosta to American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned goaltender Dan LaCosta to the Syracuse Crunch, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, and released defenseman Richard Matvichuk from his tryout contract, General Manager Scott Howson announced October 6. The training camp roster currently stands at 30 players, including injured forward Raffi Torres and goaltender Steve Mason.

The Blue Jackets open the 2008 regular season on Friday when they visit the Dallas Stars. Game time at American Airlines Center is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio will begin with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 8 p.m. The game will also broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM, Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.

Tickets for 2008-09 regular season home games, including the October 17 home opener against the Nashville Predators, are on sale now at the Nationwide Arena Ticket Office, FOX Sports Ohio Blue Line at The Mall at Tuttle Crossing, The Chiller Ice Rinks and all Ticketmaster Ticket Centers.
