Columbus Blue Jackets Assign Forward Mike Blunden to American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned forward Mike Blunden to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Scott Howson announced January 1.

Blunden, 23, has registered 29 penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 21 games with the Blue Jackets this season. Chicago’s second pick, 43rd overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft, he combined to score 12-19-31 and 30 penalty minutes in 76 games with Syracuse and Rockford last season. He has tallied 33-50-83, 210 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +9 in 178 career AHL games. He was acquired by the Blue Jackets from Chicago in exchange for Adam Pineault on January 10, 2009.
