COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned forward Derek MacKenzie to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager Scott Howson announced January 7.
MacKenzie, who was added to the roster on emergency recall on January 4, has tallied 1-3-4 and is +3 in 17 games with the Blue Jackets this season. He has appeared in 63 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Atlanta Thrashers has collected 3-5-8 and 30 penalty minutes. The Sudbury, Ontario native has notched 5-11-16 and 14 penalty minutes in 20 games with the Crunch this season.
The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Edmonton Oilers. Game time from Rexall Place is 9 p.m. ET.
