COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned forward Derek MacKenzie to the Syracuse Crunch, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson announced January 15.
MacKenzie, 27, was recalled on January 12 and collected two penalty minutes in Tuesday's 4-3 win over Colorado in his lone appearance with the club. He has registered 2-2-4 and 30 penalty minutes in 46 career NHL games with Columbus and Atlanta, including 2-0-2 and 10 penalty minutes in 18 games with the Blue Jackets. He has tallied 8-10-18 with 22 penalty minutes and is +2 in 23 games with the Crunch this season.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Friday when they host the New Jersey Devils. Game time from Nationwide Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio HD will begin with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 6:30 p.m. The game will also broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
