COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman Mathieu Roy to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager Scott Howson announced February 16.
Roy (pronounced WAH) was recalled from Syracuse for the second time this season on December 1 and has tallied 10 assists, 17 penalty minutes and a -2 plus/minus rating in 31 games with Columbus this season. In 13 games with the Crunch, he has collected 0-4-4 and 32 penalty minutes.
Roy, 26, signed with the Blue Jackets as a free agent on July 14, 2009 after spending five years in the Edmonton Oilers organization. He has tallied 2-11-13 and 74 penalty minutes in 61 career NHL games. He has also registered 16-79-95 and 422 penalty minutes in 254 career American Hockey League games with Toronto, Edmonton, Hamilton and Springfield. In 2008-09, he notched 2-15-17 and 120 penalty minutes in 59 games with Springfield.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Tuesday, March 2 when they host the Vancouver Canucks.
