COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman Mathieu Roy to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager Scott Howson announced October 28.
Roy (pronounced WAH) was added to the roster on emergency recall from Syracuse on October 3. He appeared in seven games with the club, tallying four assists and a +1 plus/minus rating. Prior to signing with the Blue Jackets as a free agent on July 14, 2009, he spent his five-year professional career in the Edmonton Oilers organization. He has tallied two goals and five assists for seven points with 57 penalty minutes in 37 career NHL games. He has also registered 16-75-91 and 390 penalty minutes in 241 career American Hockey League games with Toronto, Edmonton, Hamilton and Springfield. In 2008-09, he notched 2-15-17 and 120 penalty minutes in 59 games with Springfield.
