Columbus Blue Jackets Announce Extension of Partnership with Delaware North Companies Sportservice

by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets announced today that the hockey club has extended its partnership with Delaware North Companies Sportservice through 2026. Sportservice has been the exclusive food and beverage service provider for Nationwide Arena, the home of the Blue Jackets, since the venue opened in September 2000. The original agreement had been set to expire in 2013.

Sportservice has consistently provided Nationwide Arena guests with a diverse selection of high-quality food and beverage options for concessions, premium in-seat service, exclusive sit-down dining and suite catering. In October 2007, Sportservice installed a state-of-the-art point-of-sale system designed to speed up concession sales transaction times and expedite credit card transactions. This system is currently utilized in all concessions, club seating areas and luxury suites at Nationwide Arena.

"Sportservice has been a tremendously valuable partner dating back to the construction phase of the arena and we are excited to extend our relationship into the next two decades," said Larry Hoepfner, senior vice-president of business operations for the Columbus Blue Jackets. "Sportservice's significant investment to upgrade the technology at all points-of-sale and enhance customer service exemplifies the truly cooperative spirit of this partnership."

"I want to thank the Columbus Blue Jackets for the opportunity to extend our excellent strategic partnership in creating a first-class experience for fans at Nationwide Arena," said Rick Abramson, president of Delaware North Companies Sportservice. "It has been a pleasure working with the Blue Jackets since their inaugural season in the National Hockey League in 2000, and we look forward to even greater things in the years ahead. The team is unquestionably on the rise in the NHL and a vital part of the sports scene in Columbus."

"Last year, Sportservice invested in the installation of state-of-the-art sales systems and in broadening and enhancing the food and dining opportunities for the fans," added Michael Geczi, Sportservice's general manager at Nationwide Arena. "We look forward to working with the Blue Jackets to continue to provide fans with great food -- from concessions to upscale dining in the clubs and suites."
