Columbus Blue Jackets All-Star Winter Park, Presented By Worthington Industries, To Open On Thursday At 10 AM

COLUMBUS, OH - Columbus Blue Jackets All-Star Winter Park presented by Worthington Industries, the outdoor entertainment hub for the 2015 NHL All-Star Weekend, opens this Thursday, January 22, at 10 a.m., the club announced today.  The park, located at McFerson Commons across the street from Nationwide Arena, will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m on Thursday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

MEDIA NOTE – The Blue Jackets will host a sneak preview of Winter Park, including the inaugural run down the Snow Slide presented by Huntington, for media and invited guests on Wednesday at 4 p.m.  Media parking is available along West St. on the east side of McFerson Commons.   

Developed in conjunction with Columbus-based Marketing Activations Group, the Columbus Blue Jackets All-Star Winter Park is anchored by the Scotts Miracle-Gro Community Rink, an NHL-sized outdoor rink that opened last Friday and features public skating, youth hockey, private events and various other programming.  The rink is equipped with bleacher seating for 500 people, a skate rental tent and four heated locker rooms.  It will be open through Sunday, January 25.  Admission to skate is $5 and includes skate rental.  

The Snow Slide presented by Huntington stands 34-feet tall at its peak and span 85-feet with an additional 175-feet running along Nationwide Blvd.  The three-lane slide is located along the westbound lanes of Nationwide Blvd. between Marconi Blvd. and West St., and features three separate access points of varying heights to allow people of all ages to participate. The Snow Slide will be open Thursday, January 22 through Sunday, January 25 at a cost of $2 per ride.  Hours of operation will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
    
To complement the ice attractions within the Winter Park, the Dispatch Media Group Hockey House will feature live music and food and beverage service including MillerCoors products.  The live entertainment schedule is as follows:  Thursday – Swagg (7-9:30 p.m.)… Friday – OK Maybe (7:30-9 p.m.),  The Menus (9:30-11 p.m.)… Saturday – Jerrod Mahone (12-2 p.m.), The Reaganomics (3-4:30 p.m.), Fat Dog (5:30-7:30 p.m.), LoveSick Radio (8:30-10:30 p.m.)… Sunday – Jon Anthony & Wishful Drinkin’ (12-2 p.m.), Philip Fox Band (2:30-4:30 p.m.), Moving to Boise (8-10 p.m.).
 
The Kids Zone, home to a host of family-friendly activities including the Blue Jackets Replica Locker Room presented by AEP, will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.   There will also be a retail tent featuring an array of commemorative NHL®  All-Star merchandise including men’s, ladies and youth apparel, hats, socks, gloves, scarves and a number of other novelties.  Near the entrance to Winter Park, visitors will notice outdoor fire pits where they can toast s’mores or just gather to enjoy the atmosphere.  In addition, FOX Sports Ohio will be hosting multiple live broadcasts from Winter Park between January 19-24.
