COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have added goaltender Allen York to the roster on emergency recall from the Chicago Express, Columbus’ ECHL affiliate, club Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson announced March 9.
York, 22, has appeared in four games with the Blue Jackets this season, going 0-1-0 with a 3.53 goals-against average and .878 save percentage. He made his NHL debut against Detroit on October 25 and made his first NHL start at Chicago on October 29. He has gone 1-1-0 with a 3.84 goals-against average and .871 save percentage in five games with Springfield, as well as posting a 4-4-1 mark with a 3.28 GAA and .892 SV% in 11 games with the Express.
The Blue Jackets’ sixth pick, 158th overall, in the 2007 Entry Draft, York signed his entry level contract on March 29, 2011 after he completed his junior season at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (R.P.I.). He went 37-33-8, with a 2.47 GAA, .915 SV% and four shutouts in 83 career games. He ranks first all-time among R.P.I. goaltenders in GAA and is fourth in SV%. The Wetaskiwin, Alberta native was named Second Team All-ECAC and was a finalist for Ken Dryden Award, given to the ECAC Goaltender of the Year, in 2009-10 and was named Third Team All-ECAC in 2010-11.
