COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have added center Derek MacKenzie to the roster on emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager Scott Howson announced November 4.
MacKenzie, 28, has registered three goals and six assists for nine points, 10 penalty minutes and a plus/minus rating of +4 in 11 games with the Crunch this season. He leads the club in assists and points (tied) while his two shorthanded goals tie him for the League lead.
The Sudbury, Ontario native has collected 2-2-4 and 30 penalty minutes in 46 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Atlanta Thrashers. He was originally Atlanta’s sixth pick, 128th overall, in the 1999 Entry Draft. In 514 career AHL games, he has tallied 133-161-294, 547 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +48 with Chicago and Syracuse.
The Blue Jackets return action tonight when they host the San Jose Sharks. Game time from Nationwide Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET.
