Columbus Blue Jackets Activate Left Wing Raffi Torres Off Injured Reserve

by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated left wing Raffi Torres off injured reserve, club General Manager Scott Howson announced January 16. Torres is expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Blue Jackets host the New Jersey Devils at Nationwide Arena.

Torres, 27, has missed the past 19 games after being placed on injured reserve December 2. He has registered one goal and three assists for four points with eight penalty minutes in 14 games with Columbus this season. He scored his first goal as a Blue Jacket, the game-winner, against the Washington Capitals on November 29. He was acquired from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Gilbert Brule on July 1.

Torres missed the first 10 games of the season due to a shoulder injury he suffered during a preseason game against Chicago on September 29. Last season with the Oilers, he registered 5-6-11 and 36 penalty minutes in 32 games. The New York Islanders’ second pick, fifth overall, in the 2000 Entry Draft has tallied 68-62-130, 263 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +6 in 321 career games with the Blue Jackets, Oilers and Islanders.

The Blue Jackets and Devils face-off at Nationwide Arena tonight at 7 p.m. ET. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio will begin with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 6:30 p.m. The game will also broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
