COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated goaltender Curtis Sanford off injured reserve and goaltender Allen York to the Chicago Express, Columbus’ ECHL affiliate, club Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson announced February 22.
Sanford, 32, missed the last six games due to a lower body injury suffered against Dallas on February 8. He has gone 10-13-4 with a 2.52 goals-against average, .915 save percentage and one shutout in 29 games this season. A native of Owen Sound, Ontario, he has compiled a 47-50-15 record, 2.70 goals-against average, .905 save percentage and six shutouts in 137 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, St. Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks. He was signed as a free agent by Columbus on July 1, 2011.
The Blue Jackets return to action Friday when the club hosts the Colorado Avalanche. Game time from Nationwide Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET.
