Columbus Blue Jackets Activate Center Manny Malhotra Off Injured Reserve; Place Left Wing Fredrik Modin on Injured Reserve

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated center Manny Malhotra off injured reserve and placed left wing Fredrik Modin on injured reserve, Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson announced October 21.

Malhotra, 27, who was injured in the Blue Jackets final preseason game at Toronto on October 5, recorded 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points to go along with 34 penalty minutes in 71 games with Columbus last season. He led the club and ranked second in the NHL in face-off percentage (59.0 percent). In 557 career games, he has tallied 65-97-162 and 316 penalty minutes with the Blue Jackets, Dallas and NY Rangers.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they host the Vancouver Canucks. Game time from Nationwide Arena is set for 7 p.m. Live coverage on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM, Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101 begins at 6:30 p.m.
