COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman Derrick Walser and forward Joakim Lindstrom to the Syracuse Crunch, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced Sunday.
Walser was scoreless in two games with Columbus and has also tallied 3-10-13 and 27 penalty minutes in 23 AHL games with the Crunch and Albany River Rats this season. He spent parts of three seasons with the Blue Jackets from 2001-04 and has collected 6-21-27 and 56 penalty minutes in 84 career NHL games.
Lindstrom, 23, has collected 1-0-1 and two penalty minutes in five games with the Blue Jackets this season, scoring his first career NHL goal at Minnesota on December 29. Columbus’ second pick, 41st overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft, he made his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets last season and was scoreless in three games. The Skelleftea, Sweden native has also tallied 6-8-14 and six penalty minutes in 18 games with Syracuse this season and in 95 career AHL games, he has registered 24-41-65 and 58 penalty minutes.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Tuesday when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks. Game time from United Center is 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live on the VERSUS Network. The game will also be broadcast on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101 with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
