COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned goaltender Ty Conklin to the Syracuse Crunch, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today. Conklin had joined the club on emergency recall on December 11.
Conklin, 30, stopped 10-of-11 shots in 54:32 of action in two games with the Blue Jackets. He relieved Fredrik Norrena Dec. 16 vs. Chicago and Dec. 20 at Detroit. He has a 2-10-1 record with a 3.33 goals-against average and .905 save percentage in 14 games with Syracuse this season. The Anchorage, Alaska, native signed as a free agent with the Blue Jackets on July 6, 2006, after spending five seasons in the Edmonton Oilers organization with whom he posted a 27-19-5 record, 2.49 GAA and .905 SV% in 60 NHL games.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Friday when they host the Vancouver Canucks. Game time at Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET with live coverage on FSN Ohio beginning with the IceBreaker pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. Coverage also includes the Blue Jackets Ice Cap post-game show immediately following the game. The game will also be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 the Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
