With their disappointing eight day five-game road trip behind them, the Blue Jackets are back in the friendly confines tonight... but with no easy task!!!! The Jackets host the Calgary Flames. Yes, those same Flames that went into Joe Louis Arena last night and shut out the Red Wings 3-0, despite Mikka Kiprusoff getting peppered with 40 shots. Coach Brent Sutter had decided earlier yesterday to give his number one netminder the night off prior to his second shutout, and kept his word this morning.
Curtis McElhinney will make just his third appearance of the season and he will be opposed by the Jackets Steve Mason.
As for the line changes I'd mentioned in the headline... Raffi Torres moves up to the top line tonight alongside Antoine Vermette and Rick Nash. R.J. Umberger slides down to the second line with Kristian Huselius and Derrick Brassard. On the third line Jason Chimera and Sammy Pahlsson are joined by Jake Voracek. The fourth line sees Mike Blunden with Derek MacKenzie and Jarred Boll.
Tonight is "White Out Night" presented by FOX Sports Ohio. So If your planning on attending tonight's game make sure you put on your white T-shirt, handed to you as you enter the arena. Good seats are still available. Game time is 7 p.m.! I hope to see you there if not... the game is on Fox Sports Ohio, Blue Jackets Live at 6:30 p.m.
