by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

December 29

The Blue Jackets hope to continue where they left off at Nationwide last night, with a very solid effort and the resultant win over the Red Wings, here tonight on Long Island. After last night's victory, the team will welcome both Chris Clark and newly named Olympian (Team Slovakia) Milan Jurcina to their lineup. Both took part in this morning's optional skate. Clark will join Pahlsson and last night's overtime hero Freddie Modin.

Coach Hitchcock again reminded everyone this morning of the need for the Jackets to improve their road record if they are going too be in the playoff hunt.

Steve Mason, who last night tied Marc Denis' franchise record of 12 shutouts, gets the start in goal and Coach Hitchcock singled out Mason saying, "He's starting to play well, and we need him... adding, It's now three games in a row he has had strong performances."

Dwyane Roloson gets the start for the Islanders. Roloson is 8-9-2 career wise against the CBJ with a respectable 2.16 goals against average, .926 save-percentage, and two shutouts.

Tonight's coverage on FOX Sports Ohio begins at 6:30 p.m. with Ray Crawford and Blue Jackets LIVE. Game time is 7 p.m.
