Celebrating Strength, Hope and Courage

by Alison Pegg / Columbus Blue Jackets

When asking pediatric cancer hero Logan Roberts if he was nervous about walking the runway Thursday night he answered “oh I got moves, don’t worry.”

And did he ever.

Thursday night’s Black Tie Blue Jackets Style Show was a night of celebration, honoring the Strength, Hope and Courage of this year’s ten pediatric cancer heroes. The event showcased the legacy of the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation while raising money for the Foundation’s signature focus: pediatric cancer research and support programs. Heroes from past and present were featured during the program, with the runway show finale once again providing the most cheers (and laughs).

The atmosphere in the audience was emotional and upbeat, and was only surpassed by the mood backstage. Players and Lady Jackets never left their heroes sides, hanging out, practicing moves, taking pictures and exchanging hugs and gifts after the show. It was truly a night for the heroes to shine, and the players and Lady Jackets were happy to let them take center stage.

Between the silent auction, live auction (including a Miniature Aussie Labradoodle pup and a Fund the Hope package, which alone raised $52,000 directly for the Family Resource Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital) and generous sponsors, proceeds from the event raised over $200,000 for the Blue Jackets Foundation’s programs.

Strength, Hope and Courage indeed.
