The Blue Jackets rookies improved to 2-0 at the Traverse City Rookie Tournament with an 8-6 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning rookies in a penalty filled contest on Wednesday night. The Jackets rookies will have a practice day tomorrow before returning to game action on Friday night against the Atlanta Thrashers rookies.

Geoff Platt, a rookie camp tryout invitee, scored four times to lead the offense. Defenseman Kris Russell, who drew praise for his play in the opening game on Tuesday night, added two goals. Russell, a 2005 draftee, led all CHL defensemen in goals last season and was invited to Hockey Canada's development camp last month for World Junior Championship Team consideration. Petr Pohl and Philippe Dupuis also scored for the Blue Jackets rookies.
