The United States' 2-1 win over CBJ prospect Petr Pohl and the Czech Republic in the Quarter Finals yesterday, advancing the US Team to the semi-finals against Russia today.

In the tournament's other Semi Final, Finland will play Canada, after advancing in a 1-0 OT win over Sweden on Monday. As a result of losses in the Quarter Finals, the Czech Republic and Sweden will face off for fifth place on Wednesday.

Pohl has been instrumental in the Czech Republic's advancement to the fifth-place game, as the young forward is second in the tourament in goal scoring, with a team-high four goals. He has also dished out an assist, for five points, which is 19th overall in scoring. He leads his team with 18 shots on goal and is tied for second in +/- with +3.

CBJ prospect Kris Russell has been manning the blueline for undefeated Team Canada. He currently ranks 18th in scoring amongst defensemen, scoring 0-2-2 with a +3 in four games in the tournament.

Finally, Ohio native Tom Fritsche is 26th in the tournament in scoring, bolstered by his four assists, which rank tied for sixth in the tournament. He has scored 1-4-5 overall with a +1 rating for Team USA.

Nathan Davis, also from Ohio and a member of the Miami of Ohio hockey team, has scored 0-1-1 with two PIM in five games for USA.

The winner of the Team USA/Russia contest today will play the winner of this evening's Canada/Finland game on Thursday for the Gold Medal.

The losing teams, meanwhile, will also meet on Thursday to compete for the bronze medal.
