EDITOR'S NOTE: You've arrived at the CBJ Power Rankings, our weekly breakdown of the top-five players, statistics, trends and many other Blue Jackets-related categories. If you're looking for the traditional power rankings, you've come to the wrong place. We'll go in-depth and outside the box, and hopefully give you something to think about.

For this week's rankings, we're talking about offense. Not practice, as Allen Iverson once memorably said (and repeated)...but the coveted aspect of offense from the defense. Who's bringing it to the table for their teams, and are those teams in playoff contention? There's often a correlation between those two things, and one of the Blue Jackets is among the top-scoring defensemen in the division.

It's a game day and the Blue Jackets are looking for their fourth straight win - and not surprisingly, they've received solid offensive production from their blue line of late. Let's get this week's power rankings started, shall we?

2013-14: 47 GP, 7-19-26 (-2)

Whenever you watch Ryan McDonagh play, it's almost impossible to fathom that he was once traded for Scott Gomez. This guy has very quickly become one of the best all-around defensemen in the business, and in February, he'll head to Sochi, Russia to play for Team USA at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Still just 24 years old (he turns 25 over the summer), McDonagh leads all Metro Division defensemen in scoring while playing for a Rangers team that's starting to heat up.
