Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Daniil Tarasov underwent successful surgery today to repair his injured right hip and is expected to make a full recovery in six months, Blue Jackets General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The surgery was performed by Dr. Bryan Kelly at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

Tarasov, 22, has missed the past 20 games since suffering the injury during the Blue Jackets' January 1 game against the Carolina Hurricanes. He appeared in four games with Columbus this season, including three starts, and sported a 0-2-0 record with a 2.40 goals-against average and .937 save percentage as he turned aside 104-of-111 shots-against.
"Our first course of action following Daniil's injury was to try rehabilitation. Unfortunately, his hip did not progress like we had hoped and our medical team recently determined that surgery was the best course of action with his long-term career in mind," said Kekalainen. "Today's surgery went well and we expect him to make a full recovery and be ready to go for the start of next season."
