CBJ recall Carlsson from Monsters

The Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Gabriel Carlsson

The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Gabriel Carlsson from the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Carlsson, 21, suited up in the Blue Jackets' 2018-19 season opener at Detroit on October 4, recording one shot and two penalty minutes in 9:21 of ice time. He has recorded three assists and six penalty minutes in 17 career games with the Jackets since making his NHL debut at the end of the 2016-17 campaign. In 2017-18, he collected 0-2-2, four penalty minutes and an "even" plus/minus rating in 14 appearances with the team.

Columbus' second first round selection, 29th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft, the Orebro, Sweden native has also posted 3-10-13 and 18 penalty minutes in 54 career AHL contests with the Monsters. He has tallied 1-6-7 and two penalty minutes in 18 outings with the team this season.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers. Game time from Wells Fargo Center is 7 p.m. ET.
