There are certain road swings Blue Jackets fans look forward to each year. Here's when each will happen.
- Viva Las Vegas:The annual trip to Sin City, which has sent Jackets fans flocking to Vegas in recent years, comes Saturday, Jan. 11 as the Jackets take on the Golden Knights in T-Mobile Arena. That will conclude a four-game road swing for Columbus which runs through Los Angeles, Anaheim and San Jose from Jan. 6-9.
- Fun in the sun:That early January swing knocks all three California teams off the Blue Jackets' road schedule for those who want to check out the West Coast vibes. Columbus fans have also made a habit of going to the Sunshine State for games vs. Tampa Bay and Florida, which are often back-to-back on the schedule. That won't be the case this year, though, as the Blue Jackets visit the Panthers on Dec. 7 and the Lightning on March 27, visiting each Florida squad just once this season.
- Gas up the car:The Blue Jackets three closest foes are Detroit (about a three-hour drive), Pittsburgh (the same) and Buffalo (five hours). If you're looking for a day trip, the Jackets will be in the Motor City on Tuesday, Dec. 17; in the Steel City on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Thursday, Dec. 12; and in the wings capital of the world twice in February on Saturday the 1st and Thursday the 13th (bring a coat).
- Western Canada:Then there's the subset of Blue Jackets fans who want the ultimate long-distance adventure -- the annual three-city swing through Western Canada's beautiful yet occasionally frigid landscape. Only the most ardent CBJ fans often make the jaunt, which this year takes the Jackets to Calgary on March 4, Edmonton on March 7 and finally Vancouver on March 8.
