Hello from Nashville!
What a week. No better way to go into my first ever All-Star Weekend than by getting two big wins over a good team. I really liked the way we played at home Monday and then at the Bell Centre the next night. That’s such a fun building to play in with so much history, and I was really glad we could get that sweep.
Now for something I’ve never done before – the NHL All-Star experience.
I said it earlier this week, but this is such a big honor for me to represent the Blue Jackets and my new city of Columbus here in Nashville. This is a special weekend for me and I’m definitely going to make the most of it and enjoy every single moment.
So, where do I start? Oh yeah, that Twitter contest we had this week!
I have to say, Blue Jackets fans…that was pretty impressive. I can’t thank you enough for rallying and supporting me in the #NHLBreakawaySaad vote, it really means a lot and I'll do my best to make you proud. I have no idea what moves or tricks I’ll pull out of the bag, but I will try to think of something. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!
Hopefully you follow along with my blog here throughout All-Star Weekend. I’ll do my best to check in from time to time, even when they’re keeping us pretty busy with media stuff, events and the two big ones on Saturday and Sunday.
Today, I’ll be doing some media availability at the arena and later tonight I’ll be part of NHL All-Star Friday Night, which sounds like a cool event. I'm supposed to be on stage for a bit with Shea Weber to answer a few questions about the skills competition and some other stuff.
We haven’t been in town here very long, but I’m liking Nashville a lot. Everyone is really friendly, the fans here are great and the whole setup of Fan Fair, the Winter Park and everything surrounding All-Star is awesome. It’s going to be a lot of fun this weekend, and I’m thankful to have my family here with me to celebrate.
Thanks again for your support!
