COLUMBUS, OH – The Columbus Blue Jackets announced today that over 16,000 people skated at Columbus Blue Jackets Winter Park presented by Worthington Industries during the recently completed run at McFerson Commons. From Friday, January 22 through Sunday, February 21, approximately 11,200 people participated in public skating sessions at the outdoor rink that served as the centerpiece of the park.
In addition to the public skating, hockey programming attracted approximately 1,500 people of all ages. The rink hosted youth hockey association practices, a youth hockey tournament, adult drop-in hockey, high school practices, as well as adult and youth clinics. Another 3,400 participants skated in privately hosted events.
“With just over 16,000 participants taking to the outdoor ice for public skating and hockey at this year’s Winter Park, we hope this marks the beginning of a wonderful winter tradition for our community and visitors as well,” said Blue Jackets Vice President of Marketing J.D. Kershaw. “The experience was made possible thanks to tremendous support from our community leaders and corporate partners, led by Worthington Industries, and we look forward to bringing this popular attraction back to the Arena District next year.”
