PHOENIX COYOTES (7-6-0, 14 pts./3rd Pacific Division): Head Coach Wayne Gretzky… Coyotes went 3-1-0 last week, including a 4-2 win that snapped San Jose's seven-game winning streak on Sunday… Phoenix is tied for eighth in the NHL, allowing 2.46 goals per game… Club is led by C Olli Jokinen (7-9-16 in 13 games) and LW Shane Doan (7-6-13 in 13 games)… G Ilya Bryzgalov is 6-5-0 with a 2.47 GAA, .919 SV%... The Blue Jackets are 11-13-5 all-time vs. the Coyotes, including 7-6-1 at home… Columbus had won four of the last five prior to a 3-1 loss at Phoenix on Oct. 11.

BUFFALO SABRES (8-3-3, 19 pts./1st-T Northeast Division): Head Coach Lindy Ruff… Sabres began the season with four-straight wins, but enter the week winless in their last two (0-1-1)… Buffalo ranks sixth in the NHL on the power play (21.6 pct.) and fourth in penalty killing (88.7 pct.)… LW Thomas Vanek has 12-3-15, five PPG, two SHG and two GWG in 14 games and leads the NHL in goals… G Ryan Miller is 7-2-2 with a 2.04 GAA, .929 SV% and two SO in 11 games, ranking among the NHL’s top six in all four categories… The Blue Jackets are 5-2-1 all-time vs. the Sabres, including 3-2-0 on the road… Columbus has won the last two meetings, including a 3-0 win at Buffalo in the last meeting on Oct. 19, 2007.

MINNESOTA WILD (8-4-1, 17 pts./2nd Northwest Division): Head Coach Jacques Lemaire… Minnesota has gone 2-4-0 since opening the season 6-0-1… The Wild is led by C Mikko Koivu (2-13-15 in 13 games) and RW Antti Miettinen (6-6-12 in 13 games)… G Niklas Backstrom is 8-3-1 with a 2.19 GAA, .931 SV% and one shutout in 12 games… The Blue Jackets are 13-12-3 all-time vs. the Wild, including 4-9-2 on the road… The Wild won the first meeting this season 2-1 at home on Oct. 25 in a game that saw an apparent tying goal by Columbus' Rick Nash disallowed late in the third period… Minnesota has won the last three in the series since a 4-0 Jackets win at the Xcel Energy Center on Nov. 23, 2007.

MASON WINS FIRST THREE STARTS; NAMED NHL 2ND STAR OF THE WEEK: Rookie G Steve Mason was recalled from Syracuse (AHL) on Nov. 4 and made his NHL debut the following night as he stopped 22-of-26 shots in a 5-4 win over Edmonton. Two nights later on Nov. 7, he made 34 saves and stopped both shootout attempts in a 4-3 win over Montreal. Mason picked up his third win in four nights on Nov. 8 when he made 22 saves in a 3-1 win over Calgary. The 20-year-old went 3-0-0 with a 2.61 GAA and .907 SV% in his three starts and was named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week. He is the first goaltender to win the first three starts of his NHL career since Montreal's Jaroslav Halak (who Mason beat on Saturday) in February 2007… BRASSARD KEEPS ROLLING ALONG: The NHL’s Rookie of the Month for October, C Derick Brassard scored his team-leading sixth goal, the game-winner, vs. Calgary on Nov. 8 to increase his season totals to a team-leading 6-7-13 in 14 games. The NHL's top-scoring rookie has picked up a point in 11 of the 14 games he’s played and has 4-3-7 in his last six… MISCELLANEOUS: D Mike Commodore has collected 0-7-7 in 15 games, which is just four assists shy of his total of 11 in 67 games with Carolina and Ottawa last season… C Manny Malhotra has scored two goals in the past three games, including the game-winner vs. Edmonton in the third period on Nov. 5 and the final goal in the third period of a 3-1 win over Calgary on Nov. 8… C R.J. Umberger had four-game goal scoring and five-game point streaks (5-1-6) snapped vs. Calgary on Nov. 8… LW Fredrik Modin has tallied 2-1-3 in four games since returning to the lineup on Nov. 3 at NY Islanders… LW Rick Nash has collected five assists in his last five games… C Michael Peca played in his 800th NHL game at the NY Islanders on Nov. 3 and his 803 games played are the most by any Blue Jacket (Modin is second with 773).



The Blue Jackets' current six-game streak with a point (4-0-2) is their longest since Oct. 23-Nov. 4, 2007 when the club went 5-0-1… The Jackets have won three in a row for the first time since a four-game streak from Jan. 11-17, 2008 (St. Louis, Nashville, Vancouver, at Phoenix)… Columbus is 7-2-0 when scoring the game's first goal… The club ranks 10th-T in the NHL in scoring (45 goals in 15 games, 3.00 per game) and is second in the league in even-strength scoring (33 goals, 2.20 per game)… Columbus trails only Chicago (33 goals in 13 games, 2.54 per game)… The Blue Jackets have gone 4-0-0 vs. Canadian teams this season with wins over Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal and Calgary… The Jackets have outscored their last five opponents 11-5 in the third period.
