*      The Blue Jackets went 3-3-2 during its eight-game preseason schedule, including a 2-1-2 mark in their final five games… Columbus was 0-3-1 at home and 3-0-1 on the road.

*      LW Jason Chimera led the club in scoring with 2-4-6 in six games, while LW Rick Nash led the Jackets in goals and was tied for second in points with 4-1-5 in five games… Rookie C Derick Brassard added 0-5-5 in six games.

*      Blue Jackets goaltenders fashioned a 2.08 GAA and .916 SV% in eight games… Rookie G Steve Mason went 1-2-0 with  1.78 GAA and .913 SV% in three games… G Fredrik Norrena was 1-0-0 with a 1.80 GAA, .947 SV% and 1 SO in two games and G Pascal Leclaire posted a 1-1-2 mark with a 2.36 GAA and .907 SV% in four games.


*      Columbus has posted a 1-3-2 mark in its previous six season-openers, including 1-1-2 at home.

*      Columbus opened the 2006-07 season at home with a 3-2 SOL vs. Vancouver after starting the previous two seasons on the road, suffering a 3-2 loss at Washington on Oct. 5, 2005 and a 2-1 setback at Atlanta on Oct. 9, 2003. 

*      The Blue Jackets earned a 2-1 win over Chicago on Oct. 10, 2002, earned a 3-3 tie vs. St. Louis on Oct. 4, 2001 and dropped a 5-3 decision to Chicago in their inaugural game on Oct. 7, 2000. 

*      The club is 2-2-2 all-time in home-openers.

*      The Jackets are 2-3-1 all-time in their season road debuts.


*      The special Opening Night Pre-Game Show prior to Friday’s Blue Jackets-Ducks game will begin at 6:45 p.m. and include the introduction of the 2007-08 Blue Jackets and a performance by U.S. Olympic figure skating great Todd Eldredge.  All fans in attendance will receive a free a Nationwide Night rally flag.  The National Anthem will be performed Staff Sgt. Amber Grimes of the United States Air Force.


*      The Blue Jackets enter the week with 26 players on their roster, which must be at 23 players by 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

*      There are several new faces on the Blue Jackets current roster.  Among the players who could make their CBJ debuts this week are – C Kris Beech (free agent; 2006-07 – Washington), LW Jared Boll (rookie; 2006-07 – Plymouth/OHL), D Jan Hejda (free agent; 2006-07 – Edmonton), G Steve Mason (rookie; 2006-07 – London/OHL), C Jiri Novotny (free agent; 2006-07 – Buffalo/Washington), C Michael Peca (free agent; 2006-07 – Toronto) and Kris Russell (rookie; 2006-07 – Medicine Hat/WHL).

*      RW David Vyborny enters the season as the franchise leader in points (291), assists (185) and games played (477), while ranking second in goals (106) to Rick Nash (116)…  He has his sights set on becoming the first player in franchise history to play in 500 games and score 300 points as a Blue Jacket.

*      C Sergei Fedorov enters the season ranked among the NHL’s all-time leaders in goals (51st-461), points (52nd-1,105) and assists (57th-644)… He stands 11th among active players in goals, ninth in points, 13th in assists and 20th in games played.

*      LW Fredrik Modin is one of just 19 members of the Triple Gold Club of players who have won a Stanley Cup (2004-Tampa Bay), Olympic gold medal (2006-Sweden) and World Championships gold medal (1998-Sweden).


LW Jason Chimera is eight games shy of 300 in his NHL career (51-51-102 in 292 games).

C Sergei Fedorov is six assists shy of 650 in his NHL career (461-644-1,105 in 1,128 games).

C Manny Malhotra is 14 games shy of 500 in his NHL career (54-79-133 in 286 games).

LW Fredrik Modin is one assist shy of 200 and nine games shy of 750 in his NHL career (205-199-404 in 741 games).
