GARON POST BACK-TO-BACK SHUTOUTS, NAMED NHL'S 2ND STAR OF THE WEEK
G Mathieu Garon went 2-1-0 with a 1.01 goals-against average, .962 save percentage and two shutouts in three games last week for Columbus and was named the NHL's Second Star of the Week for Nov. 1-7. Garon made 29 saves in a 3-0 win over Montreal on Nov. 2, stopped 25 shots in a 3-0 win at Atlanta on Nov. 4 and made 21 saves in a 3-2 loss vs. Minnesota on Nov. 6, surrendering a pair of power play goals in the setback. He became the fifth Jackets goaltender to record back-to-back shutouts, joining Ron Tugnutt (Mar. 14-16, 2001), Fredrik Norrena (Dec. 2-5, 2006), Pascal Leclaire (Oct. 5-10, 2007) and Steve Mason (three-straight, Dec. 27-31, 2008; Feb. 6-10, 2010). Garon has appeared in six games this season and is 4-1-0 with a 1.28 GAA, .951 SV% and two shutouts, ranking third in the NHL in GAA, SV% and SO.

BRASSARD EXTENDS POINT-SCORING STREAK TO SEVEN GAMES
C Derick Brassard, who was held to 0-1-1 in the first six games of the season, is riding a seven-game point-scoring streak (5-2-7) since Oct. 23. The streak is the longest of his NHL career and is tied for the sixth-longest in CBJ history. The record of nine is shared by Rick Nash (9-7-16 from Dec. 30, 2005-Jan. 8, 2006) and Andrew Cassels (4-9-13 from Nov. 1-17, 2002). Brassard now leads the team in scoring with 5-4-9, including a team-high three power play and two game-winning goals, and is second on the club with 41 shots on goal. His five goals in the past seven games matches the total of his previous 56 outings dating back to December 2009.
