Nov. 15 – Acquired D Aaron Rome and D Clay Wilson from Anaheim Ducks in exchange for C Geoff Platt and assigned Rome and Wilson to Syracuse Crunch (AHL)… Nov. 13 – Loaned D Mikko Maenpaa to HPK (Finnish Elite League).

LW Fredrik Modin (back spasms) is out indefinitely… C Michael Peca (groin strain) is day-to-day… Man Games Lost to Injury: 44.

 

TEAM NOTES

*Jackets Stay in Thick of the Race: The Blue Jackets enter Thanksgiving week in the thick of the Central Division and Western Conference standings with a 9-7-4 record and 22 points… Columbus is seven points behind first place Detroit and one point behind second place Chicago in the Central Division standings… The club stands eighth in the Western Conference, but is just three points behind second place San Jose.

*What a Difference A Year (or two) Makes: With 22 points through 20 games this season, the Jackets have matched their point total of the previous two seasons combined through the first 20 outings… Last year, Columbus was 5-13-2 (12 points) and in 2005-06 the club was 5-15-0 (10 pts.).

*Vs. the Central and Beyond: Columbus is 4-4-2 vs. Central Division opponents heading into Saturday’s game vs. Detroit… Following that contest, the Blue Jackets will not play another game within the division until Dec. 23 vs. Nashville (a span of 11 games).

*Vs. This Week's Opponents:  Florida – Columbus is 3-3-0 all-time vs. the Panthers, including 1-1-0 at home… Columbus won the last meeting, 5-4 in overtime at Florida on Jan. 14, 2005… The last game at Nationwide Arena was a 4-1 Jackets win on Oct. 19, 2002… Minnesota – Columbus is 12-9-3 all-time vs. the Wild, including 3-8-2 on the road… The Wild won the first meeting this season, 3-2, at home on Oct. 6… Detroit – The Blue Jackets are 8-23-8 all-time vs. the Red Wings, including 4-10-6 at home… The Red Wings earned a 4-1 win at Joe Louis Arena on Nov. 9 and a 5-4 shootout win at Nationwide Arena on Nov. 18.

 

PLAYER NOTES

*Nash and Leclaire on All-Star Ballot: LW Rick Nash and G Pascal Leclaire are among the players who have been named to the Western Conference ballot in the XM/NHL All-Star Fan Balloting, Presented by 2K Sports, which opened on Tuesday Nov. 13. For the second consecutive season, the balloting process is entirely digital and extends through Jan. 2. Fans can "Vote Now, Vote Often" online at NHL.com to select the starting lineups for the 2008 NHL All-Star Game. In addition, U.S. fans also can cast votes through Verizon Wireless cell phones. Nash currently ranks third in the NHL in goals and is 13th in points with 14-9-23 in 20 games, while Leclaire leads the NHL in shutouts (5), ranks second in goals-against average (1.77) and fourth in save percentage (.935) while compiling a 8-4-1 record.

*RW Nikolai Zherdev continues to rank second on the club in scoring with 6-9-15 in 20 games. He has registered 4-4-8 in his last nine games and collected a season-high 1-2-3 vs. Detroit on Nov. 18.

*D Duvie Westcott has collected 1-1-2 in three games since returning to the lineup on Nov. 14… He had sat out 12 of the previous 13 games, including nine-straight from Oct. 25-Nov. 12 after suffering a concussion at Chicago on Oct. 23.

*RW David Vyborny is three games shy of becoming the first player in franchise history to play 500 games as a Blue Jacket and is two points shy of 300 in his career… The club’s all-time leading scorer has 107-191-298 in 497 games entering this week's action.

*LW Curtis Glencross scored his first goal as a Blue Jacket on Nov. 10 at Nashville and added his second on Nov. 16 at St. Louis… He's collected 2-1-3 and 10 shots on goal in his last five games.

*The Coach's Show with Ken Hitchcock airs on WBNS Sports Radio 1460 The Fan on Wednesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. with the Blue Jackets Head Coach and Blue Jackets play-by-play announcer on FSN Ohio Jeff Rimer.

*Breakfast with the Blue Jackets Presented by Rise & Dine can be heard on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship station Sports Radio 1460 The Fan Sundays from 10 to 11 a.m. with hosts Mark Wyant and members of the CBJ broadcast team. The show will be broadcast live from the Rise & Dine in the Arena District located at 277 W. Nationwide Blvd.
