Jackets at the Midway Point: For the first time in franchise history, the Blue Jackets posted a winning record through the first 41 games of a season… A 4-3 win at Los Angeles on Jan. 3 gave Columbus a 19-16-6 mark and 44 points in 41 games… The club's previous best record at the midway point was 15-20-4-2 (36 points) in 2002-03… Columbus also posted its second winning month of the season in December with a 7-5-2 mark.

Standings Update: With 44 points in 42 games, Columbus is one point behind second place St. Louis (20-14-5) in the Central Division standings and six points out of fourth place (Division leaders rank 1-2-3) in the Western Conference.

On the Road Again: After playing 11-of-14 games in December at Nationwide Arena, the Blue Jackets play 19-of-27 games on the road between Jan. 1 and Mar. 4… That stretch includes two five-game road trips – Jan. 17-24 (Phoenix-Dallas-Colorado-Dallas-Chicago) and Feb. 15-23 (Detroit-St. Louis-Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal).

Power Play Getting Back on Track: The Blue Jackets have scored a power play goal in five of their last seven games, converting 6-of-30 chances (20 percent) during that stretch… In the previous 13 outings, the club was shut out nine times and converted just 5-of-56 opportunities with the man advantage (8.9 percent).

Upcoming Opponents: St. Louis – Columbus is 16-15-9 all-time vs. the Blues, including 6-10-4 on the road… The Blue Jackets are 9-2-4 in the last 15 meetings, including a pair of 3-0 wins at home (Oct. 25, Nov. 4) and a 3-2 road loss (Nov. 16) this season… Nashville – Columbus is 11-26-4 all-time vs. the Predators, including a 7-11-2 mark at home… The Jackets are winless in their last 12 games vs. Nashville (0-10-2) dating back to a 3-1 road win on Apr. 3, 2006… The Jackets are 0-3-1 this season, including 4-1 (Nov. 12) and 3-1 (Dec. 23) losses at Nationwide Arena.



All-Star Voting Update: LW Rick Nash and G Pascal Leclaire were among the players on the Western Conference ballot in the XM/NHL All-Star Fan Balloting, Presented by 2K Sports. Voting concluded on January 2nd and the starting lineups for the Western and Eastern Conference teams will be announced on Tuesday, January 8. The reserves both teams are expected to be announced later this week.

Fedorov Into Top 50: C Sergei Fedorov scored a goal at San Jose on Jan. 5 to move into 50th place on the NHL's all-time goals and points lists. He surpassed Pat LaFontaine with his 469th career goal and Joe Nieuwendyk with his 1,127th point.

Nash Collects Second Career Hat Trick: With three goals vs. Edmonton on Dec. 31, LW Rick Nash recorded his second career hat trick. It was the 12th in Blue Jackets history and first at Nationwide Arena since Nov. 7, 2003 (David Vyborny).

Murray Makes the Most of First NHL Action: Rookie C Andrew Murray made his NHL debut vs. Carolina on Dec. 29. In his third career game at Anaheim on Jan. 2, he scored his first NHL goal and three nights later lit the lamp again at San Jose. Columbus' 11th pick, 242nd overall, in the 2003 Entry Draft, he has 2-0-2 with two PIM in five games.

World Junior Championships Update: G Steve Mason (2nd pick, 69th overall, in 2006 Entry Draft) was named the Most Valuable Player and Top Goaltender at the 2008 World Junior Championships held Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in the Czech Republic. Mason went 5-0-0 with a 1.19 GAA, .951 SV% and one shutout to lead Canada to its fourth-straight gold medal. RW Stefan Legein (2nd pick, 37th overall, in 2007) was one of the Canada's alternate captains and had 1-1-2 in seven games. Also, RW Jakub Voracek (1st pick, seventh overall, in 2007) led the Czech Republic in scoring with 0-6-6 in six games.
