BLUE JACKETS ACQUIRE CLARK, JURCINA FROM CAPS FOR CHIMERA
The Blue Jackets acquired D Milan Jurcina and RW Chris Clark from the Washington Capitals in exchange for LW Jason Chimera on Dec. 28. Jurcina has tallied 14-36-50 and 212 penalty minutes in 305 career NHL games with the Capitals and Boston Bruins. Clark, who served as Washington's captain, has collected 95-99-194 and 645 penalty minutes in 521 career NHL games with the Caps and the Calgary Flames. Both players made their CBJ debuts at the NY Islanders on Dec. 29.
SIX BLUE JACKETS PLAYERS SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN OLYMPIC GAMES
Six Blue Jackets players will represent their countries at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver next month – RW Rick Nash (Canada, two-time Olympian/2006), LW Fredrik Modin (Sweden, two-time Olympian/2006-gold), C Samuel Pahlsson (Sweden, two-time Olympian/2006-gold), D Fedor Tyutin (Russia, two-time Olympian/2006), D Milan Jurcina (Slovakia, two-time Olympian/2006) and D Jan Hejda (Czech Republic). In addition, Blue Jackets Head Coach Ken Hitchcock will serve as an associate coach for Team Canada for the third-consecutive Olympic Games (2002-gold, 2006).
JACKETS HALT ONE STREAK, STILL LOOKING FOR ELUSIVE ROAD WIN
The Blue Jackets earned a 1-0 overtime win over Detroit on Dec. 28 to halt a nine-game winless streak (0-7-2), which tied the franchise record (0-6-3 from Dec. 4-23, 2003). Columbus suffered a 2-1 SOL at the NY Islanders on Dec. 29, which extended the club’s road winless streak to 12 games (0-8-4 since a 4-1 win at Dallas on Nov. 19).

Blue Jackets G Steve Mason and Mathieu Garon have combined to post a 2.08 goals-against average and .925 save percentage over the past nine games, stopping 234-of-253 shots faced during that span. Mason is 1-3-1 with a 1.77 GAA, .939 SV% and one shutout and has turned aside 138-of-147 shots faced in five games, while Garon is 0-2-2 with a 2.46 GAA and .906 SV% and has stopped 96-of-106 shots in four outings.
