UMBERGER ON PACE FOR CAREER YEAR
LW R.J. Umberger had a four-game point streak (3-3-6) snapped at Minnesota on Jan. 23 but has tallied 14-11-25 over the past 33 games to raise his season totals to 18-18-36 in 54 games this season. He picked up his fourth multi-goal game of the season with two tallies against his former teammates at Philadelphia on Jan. 19. His 18 assists are two shy of matching his output in 82 games last season and he is on pace to surpass his career highs for goals (26 in 2008-09) and points (50 in 2007-08 with Philadelphia). He also has registered at least one shot on goal in all but three games this season (Nov. 16 vs. Edmonton, Jan. 8 at Calgary and Jan. 23 at Minnesota).
VERMETTE FLOURISHING AS A BLUE JACKET
C Antoine Vermette snapped a five-game goalless skid with his 15th of the season at Boston on Jan. 21 and added 1-1-2 at Minnesota on Jan. 23 to give him 5-6-11 in his last 11 games. With 16-25-41 in 54 games this season, he is already matched his output of a year ago when he combined to score 16-25-41 in 79 games with Ottawa and Columbus. His best offensive season was 2007-08 when he notched 24-29-53 in 81 games with the Senators. Since joining the Blue Jackets last March, he has registered 23-31-54 in 71 games (.760 points per game) compared to 80-87-167 in 359 games with the Senators (.465).
