THIS WEEK IN BLUE JACKETS HISTORY
Jan. 27, 2008 – Rick Nash sets an All-Star Game record when he scores a goal 12 seconds into the game, breaking the previous record of 19 seconds set by Detroit’s Ted Lindsay in 1950. Nash goes on to score two more goals to record the 15th hat trick in ASG history at Philips Arena in Atlanta.

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS
Jan. 18 – at Tampa Bay 3, COLUMBUS 2 (SO): Ryan Malone scored the lone goal in the fourth round of the shootout to lift Tampa Bay, which won despite being outshot 30 to 22. The Jackets led 1-0 thanks to an R.J. Umberger goal before the Lightning rallied to take a 2-1 lead on a pair of goals by Steven Stamkos. Derick Brassard’s goal late in the second period was the equalizer, while Dwayne Roloson (28 saves) and Mathieu Garon (20 saves) were both solid in net… Jan. 19 – COLUMBUS 3, at Florida 2 (OT): Antoine Vermette scored the tying goal at 19:07 of the third period and R.J. Umberger netted the game-winner at 4:06 of overtime as the Jackets came back to win. Florida jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Fedor Tyutin got Columbus on the board late in the first period. After being outshot 15 to 7 in the first, the Jackets finished the game with a 38 to 31 advantage in shots on goal… Jan. 22 – COLUMBUS 5, at St. Louis 2: The Jackets stormed back from a 2-0 deficit for the second-straight game, scoring five unanswered goals to earn the win at Scottrade Center. Thirteen different players registered points for Columbus, including Derick Brassard and Jakub Voracek who each tallied 0-2-2. Andrew Murray netted the game-winner and Steve Mason made 19 saves in net.

JACKETS RIDING FIVE-GAME REGULATION UNBEATEN STREAK
The Blue Jackets have posted a 3-0-2 record in their last five games, matching their longest streak with a point this season. The club won five-straight games from Nov. 17-24. During the current streak, the club has outscored its opponents 18 (3.60) to 15 (3.00), converted 4-of-19 power play attempts (86.7 pct.), killed off 13-of-15 opponent power plays (86.7 pct. penalty kill) and outshot the opposition 160 (32.0) to 136 (27.2).

DÉJÀ VU?
Through 48 games this season, the Blue Jackets own a 23-20-5 record (51 pts.). In 2008-09, Columbus posted a franchise-best 41-31-10 mark (92 pts.) and qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time as the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference. That year, the club’s record through 48 games was 23-20-5.

TEAM NEWS & NOTES
The Blue Jackets opened the season with a 14-6-0 record in their first 20 games, went 3-9-3 between Nov. 26-Dec. 26 and have rebounded to post a 6-5-2 mark in their last 13 outings… Columbus is 13-9-2 when outshooting the opposition and 10-10-2 when being outshot… The Jackets are 11-10-4 in 25 road games, surpassing season road win totals from the club’s first four seasons and are one shy of last year’s total (12-23-6). The club record for road wins is 16 (16-18-7 in in 2008-09)… The Jackets have scored power play goals in six of their last nine games (6-of-32, 18.8 pct.).

NASH SET TO MAKE FIFTH-STRAIGHT ALL-STAR GAME APPEARANCE
LW/RW Rick Nash, who has 4-4-8 during his current seven-game point streak, will make his fifth-straight All-Star Game appearance this Sunday. The Jackets captain, who also appeared in the 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2009 All-Star Games, has tallied 6-4-10 to lead all NHL players in ASG scoring since 2004. He currently leads the club in scoring with 22-20-42 in 47 games and ranks among NHL leaders in goals (9th-T), game-winning goals (7th-T, 5) and shots (7th, 187). The 2011 All-Star Game presented by Discover will be held at the RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina on Sunday, January 30. It will be televised live on VERSUS at 4 p.m. ET. The All-Star Game Fantasy Draft will be held on Friday at 8 p.m. ET with the Honda SuperSkills set for Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on Versus.

BIG WEEK FOR UMBERGER
LW R.J. Umberger tallied 2-1-3 in three games last week, including the OT game-winner at Florida on Jan. 19, to give him 9-2-11 in his last 15 games and raise his season point totals to 17-16-33 in 48 games. He also extended his games-played streak to 215 consecutive games and at 11:52 PM on Thursday, Jan. 20 his wife, Cara, gave birth to the couple’s second daughter, Delaney Rose.

TYUTIN KEEPS CHUGGING ALONG
D Fedor Tyutin has picked up points in six of his last seven games (3-6-9) to give him 5-10-15 in 22 games after being held to 0-3-3 the first 24 games of the season. He has also logged 18-plus minutes in all but three games this season and has topped the 20-minute mark in 22-straight games. He logged a career-high 31:27 at Tampa Bay on Jan. 18.

PLAYER NOTES
D Grant Clitsome has collected 2-3-5, 4 PIM, is +2 and has averaged 19:24 TOI in six games since being recalled from Springfield (AHL), including 0-2-2 for his second multi-point game of the season at Florida on Jan. 19… C Antoine Vermette is riding a four-game point streak (2-2-4) with goals in back-to-back games after enduring a 17-game goalless drought… G Steve Mason has gone 6-2-1 in his last nine starts and is 10-3-1 when facing 30 or more shots and 5-8-1 when he sees fewer than 30 shots… RW Jakub Voracek is riding a four-game point streak (1-5-6) and has collected 4-9-13 in his last 13 outings… C Derick Brassard has picked up 2-4-6 in his last five games and scored goals in back-to-back games at Detroit (Jan. 15) and Tampa Bay (Jan. 18) to give him a career-high 11 on the season… C Andrew Murray has goals in two of his past five games after scoring his third of the season at St. Louis on Jan. 22. The goal vs. the Blues was his first game-winner since Feb. 18, 2009 vs. St. Louis and gives him four in his NHL career (two vs. St. Louis and two vs. Colorado)… D Jan Hejda collected 0-1-1 and was a season-best +3 at St. Louis on Jan. 22.

CBJ FOUNDATION’S 10TH SEASON, $10,000 ASSIST PROGRAM LAUNCHED
In conjunction with the team’s 10th NHL season, the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation is celebrating a Decade of Giving by announcing the “10th Season $10,000 Assist,” a contest in which fans of the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation’s official Facebook page may nominate a favorite non-profit organization for the chance to receive a $10,000 donation. One winning organization will be selected and awarded a $10,000 check when the Jackets host New Jersey on Sunday, Mar. 20. Through Feb. 21, individuals interested in nominating a favorite charity may visit www.facebook.com and search Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation, “Like” the Foundation page and complete the entry form.
