NEWS & NOTES
The Blue Jackets have gone 4-5-2 in 11 previous season-openers, including a 3-2-0 mark in the last five.
The club has gone 5-4-2 (1 tie) in its first home game and 5-5-1 (1 tie) in its first road game in 11 previous seasons.
Todd Richards enters his first full season as CBJ head coach after leading the club to an 18-21-2 record as interim coach last season, including 16-14-1 in the final 31 games. The former Minnesota Wild head coach has a career record of 95-92-18.
Re-tooled Jackets roster features six players who joined the organization in the off-season: (Forward – Artem Anisimov, Brandon Dubinsky, Nick Foligno; Defense – Adrian Aucoin, Tim Erixon; Goaltender – Sergei Bobrovsky) and two new coaches (Associate Coach Craig Hartsburg, Assistant Coach Keith Acton).
The Blue Jackets’ current roster consists of 25 players and must be trimmed to 23 by the start of the regular season.
D Jack Johnson, who has played in 192-straight games since Jan. 31, 2010, tallied 12-26-38 in 2011-12, including 4-10-14 in 21 games with Columbus.
LW R.J. Umberger has scored 20 or more goals in five of his seven NHL seasons, including all four as a Blue Jacket.
RW Derek Dorsett became just the third player since 1996 to lead the NHL in penalty minutes (235) while scoring 10 or more goals (12) in 2011-12.

OPENING NIGHT FESTIVITIES SET FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 21
-- 2 for 1 and No Convenience Fees – Any fan that purchases a ticket for the home-opener vs. Detroit will get a second ticket of equal value for no additional cost. In addition, the Blue Jackets and Ticketmaster will waive convenience fees for online ticket purchases between January 15-21 for any Jackets home game during the 2012-13 season. Individual savings vary based on ticket price, but can result in savings up to $17 per ticket.
-- Jerseys, Prize Giveaways & More – All fans in attendance will receive a free T-shirt courtesy of FOX Sports Ohio, a 2012-13 schedule magnet presented by Papa John’s, a cheer card and a voucher redeemable for a free Pepsi product, hot dog and popcorn that night. Fans can also expect numerous in-game prize giveaways as well as the chance to win player-worn jerseys. The team will wear special jerseys during pre-game warm-ups that will be given away throughout the night and they will present their game-worn jerseys to lucky fans on the ice immediately following the game. Fans also are encouraged to take their seats early for pre-game opening ceremonies, including player introductions and much more.
