Feb. 10, 2001 – Geoff Sanderson recorded the first hat trick in Blue Jackets history when he scored all three goals in a 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators before a sellout crowd of 18,136 at Nationwide Arena. He scored once on the power play and twice at even-strength against Predators goaltender Mike Dunham.

Feb. 1 – Chicago 7, at COLUMBUS 4: Jonathan Toews tallied 1-2-3, including a shorthanded goal that gave Chicago a 5-3 lead at 19:20 of the second period, to lead the defending Stanley Cup champs to the win. Derek Dorsett tallied 1-1-2 to lead the Jackets, who led 1-0 and 3-2 before the Hawks scored four-straight goals to win despite being outshot 33 to 27… Feb. 4 – COLUMBUS 3, at Detroit 0: Steve Mason made 34 saves to lead the Jackets to their first-ever shutout win at Joe Louis Arena. Antoine Vermette, Jared Boll and Andrew Murray (EN) scored the Columbus goals with Vermette and Murray each adding assists for multi-point nights. The Jackets also killed off all six Detroit power play attempts in the game… Feb. 5 – at COLUMBUS 4, Edmonton 3: R.J. Umberger tallied 2-2-4 and Kristian Huselius added 2-1-3 to lead Columbus to the come-from-behind win. The Jackets trailed 2-0 after the game's first 7:44 and then again 3-2 late in the third when Umberger scored his second at 13:44 to tie the game at 3-3 and Huselius netted the game-winner at the 16:00 mark. Steve Mason made 23 saves to pick up the win, while Nikolai Khabibulin made 30 saves for the Oilers. The Jackets killed off all five Edmonton power plays, including a two-minute 5-on-3 effort early in the second period.
2010-11 LOOKS A LOT LIKE 2008-09 THROUGH 52 GAMES
Through 52 games, the Blue Jackets have a 25-22-5 record (55 pts.) and are currently five points out of the final playoff position in the Western Conference. In 2008-09, the Blue Jackets had a 24-23-5 mark (53 pts.) and were two points out through 52 games before finishing the season with a franchise-best 41-31-10 record (92 pts.) and earning the club's first Stanley Cup Playoffs berth. Here is a look at several other statistical comparisons between those seasons with 30 games remaining:
2010-11: Goals (2.63), Goals-Against (3.08), Shots (30.1), Shots-Against (29.9), Power Play (13.3 pct.), Penalty Kill (80.0 pct.).
2008-09: Goals (2.60), Goals-Against (2.80), Shots (29.7), Shots-Against (27.7), Power Play (12.0 pct.), Penalty Kill (80.6 pct.).

The Blue Jackets have posted a 5-2-2 record since Jan. 14, outscoring the opposition 31 (3.44 per game) to 28 (3.11) and outshooting them 288 (32.0) to 245 (27.2), while converting 6-of-35 power play attempts (17.1 pct.) and killing off 28-of-33 opponent power plays (84.9 pct. penalty killing) during that stretch… Columbus has 30 games left in the regular season – 15 at home and 15 on the road… The Blue Jackets are 3-0-2 in their last five road games and have won three in a row, which is one shy of the franchise record of four set from Dec. 2-12, 2006 (at Edmonton, Colorado, St. Louis and Dallas).
UMBERGER’S BIG NIGHT CONTINUES BEST SEASON
LW R.J. Umberger tallied 2-2-4, scored the tying goal, set up the GWG and was +4 in a 4-3 win vs. Edmonton on Feb. 5, marking the fourth time in club history a player has scored four points with a +4 rating in the same game. Umberger did it once before on Nov. 30, 2009 vs. St. Louis, as did Sergei Fedorov (Nov. 25, 2006 vs. Minnesota) and Rick Nash (Jan. 2, 2009 at Colorado). Umberger has tallied 19-19-38 with five power play, three game-winning and two shorthanded goals and is +7 in 52 games this season. His career highs are 26 goals (2008-09), 37 assists (2007-08 with Philadelphia), 55 points (2009-10) and +9 (2005-06 with Philadelphia).
CLITSOME CONTINUES TO MAKE MARK ON BLUELINE
Despite playing in just 10 games since being recalled from Springfield (AHL), D Grant Clitsome is tied for eighth among NHL rookie defensemen in scoring with 2-6-8. He has also picked up six penalty minutes, has a +5 plus/minus rating and is averaging 20:27 TOI per game. He has collected points in six of 10 games and has yet to be held without a point in back-to-back games. He has been an "even" or "plus" player in eight games and has logged 20:00 or more of ice time in five of the last six outings.
C Antoine Vermette has racked up 3-4-7 in his last eight games, including 1-1-2 and the GWG at Detroit on Feb. 4… LW Rick Nash had his nine-game point streak (5-7-12) snapped at Detroit on Feb. 4, falling one game shy of the franchise record of 10 set earlier this season by R.J. In conjunction with the team's 10th NHL season, the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation is celebrating a Decade of Giving by announcing the "10th Season $10,000 Assist," a contest in which fans of the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation's official Facebook page may nominate a favorite non-profit organization for the chance to receive a $10,000 donation. One winning organization will be selected and awarded a $10,000 check when the Jackets host New Jersey on Sunday, Mar. 20.
