NASH CATCHES FIRE: LW Rick Nash, who is tied for the team lead in goals with eight and is second in points (15), snapped a nine-game goalless skid when he lit the lamp in the third period vs. Phoenix on Nov. 12. He has now scored a goal in three-straight games after adding a goal at Buffalo on Nov. 14 and tallying 1-1-2 at Minnesota on Nov. 15. He has 3-5-8 in his past eight games with points in seven after being held without a point the previous four outings.
UMBERGER CONTINUES TO HAUNT THE EAST: Columbus has played four games vs. Eastern Conference opponents and C R.J. Umberger has scored five of his seven goals in those games, including two-goal efforts at the NY Islanders on Nov. 3 and at Buffalo on Nov. 14… Since being held to 0-2-2 in his first nine games as a Blue Jacket, the former Flyer has 7-1-8 in his last nine games.
BRASSARD CONTINUES TO RACK UP POINTS: Rookie C Derick Brassard continues to lead all NHL rookies in goals (tied), points and plus/minus rating (tied), while ranking second in assists with 8-9-17 and a team-best +9 in 17 games. He has recorded a point in 14-of-17 games and has notched 6-5-11 in his last eight outings and has 3-2-5 during a current four-game point streak.
LECLAIRE BACK TO FORM: G Pascal Leclaire made 36 saves in a 6-1 win at Buffalo on Nov. 14 in his first start since missing nearly three weeks due to injury. He has gone 3-1-0 with a 2.32 GAA and .926 SV% in his last five games…
MISCELLANEOUS: Rookie G Steve Mason has gone 3-1-1 with a 2.72 GAA and .903 SV% in his first five NHL starts… LW Jason Chimera ranks third on the club in scoring with 5-9-14 and has picked up a point in 11-of-18 games this season… D Mike Commodore is tied for the team lead in assists with nine, which is two shy of the 11 he collected in 67 games a year ago. JACKETS LOOK TO STAY PERFECT VS. CANADA: The Blue Jackets will look to make it five-for-five vs. Canadian-based teams when they host the Oilers on Tuesday. Columbus is 4-0-0 so far this season with wins over Vancouver (4-2 on Oct. 21), Edmonton (5-4 on Nov. 5), Montreal (4-3 SO on Nov. 7) and Calgary (3-1 on Nov. 8).
